OMG! Why have I waited so long to check out Esty.com???? Huuuhhh! Ok,ok now that my mini tantrum is over. Let me tell you, if you are planning a wedding, you MUST go to esty.com. Their are so many unique and creative artists there with such great finds for your wedding. From head pieces, to gowns, to invitations. I fell into the blackhole that is etsy... I didn't want to come out. I wanted to renew my vows so I could create a completely awesome wedding. Here are a few finds that I LOVED!

But what makes this vendor a step above the rest? Well, one look at the flavors says it all. Sure there are plenty of fancy cake designers out there, but incorporating flavor is a whole ther story. A few years ago my brother in law brought over a girl to meet the family, and she brought over very yummy chocolates from her work. They were shaped like mice and were so rich and smooth. So, I did a little research and found that Kate Parker makes a pretty great welcome basket that she offers to her clients and to the masses. An idea that is sure to please any traveling guest. HAUTE SPRING WEDDING TRENDS

Okay, I'll admit it, I have spring fever. And I can not wait to shoot our first spring wedding! So in honor of my excitement, I give you the "Hottest Trends for Spring '08 Weddings"

1. Green is hot!
Like we didn't see this one coming. The Feds Studio is green friendly, but the hottest trend for '08 is to have a "green" wedding. Couples are more concerned about our earth more than ever. Everything from recycled invitations to organic cake and anything in between that helps out mother earth.

2. It's all in the waist!
Dresses that accent the waist are all the rave. Not only does it make just about any bride look thinner (little fashion tip) but also adding a splash of color makes the look complete. Belts and sashes are it!

3. Dress to impress!
Or should I say letterpress. High-end and quality invitations are a must. Letterpress is the most luxury you can get on a piece of paper. It sets the tone for your wedding and gives your guests the first taste of what is your wedding.

4. Yellow, Yellow, Kiss A Fellow!
Ha! My mom was way before her times on this one. Yellow for a wedding color is super chic and fun. Various shades of yellow can be used depending on the time of day your wedding is being held. Accents of vibrant florals finish the look!

5. Silver Wedding Bells!
Wedding Belles aka brides. Ok, if you are so daring as to wear a silver wedding dress, first calls us, I would love to cover that wedding. You go girl! Second, if you are not so adventureos, but love the idea, add silver to your dress, tables, shoes, veil, anything that you want to shimmer. Silver is the new gold!

6. BOLD, BOLDER, BOLDEST!
Charge up your wedding atmosphere with crazy bold colors. Try Fuschia and blue ;) or orange, purple and green. If you want to have a fun and party like a rockstar kind of wedding, set the stage for your guest with poppong color on your girls coming down the aisle. Hey, that white gown will really be like "WHOA" against hot pink bridesmaid!

So, I know it's been a terribly long time since I have posted anything, however, I have to admit it's not a bad thing. Our wedding photography company has just increased dramatically in popularity, and I just simply haven't had the time. But, I am back and I have a new concept for the site in mind. Us local Bostonians know all about the "Phantom Gourmet" a secret reviewer of local dining. Well, being in the industry that I'm in a have meet a lot of vendors and a lot of brides that talk about vendors. So, I have decided to become the "Phantom Bridzilla" I little play off of our esteemed food critic. I want to give a true review with real experiences to better serve all you brides to be, so you know what's the best out there and so you don't waste your time on a ho-hum vendor. It's your BIG day, you deserve the best!

Glamorous wedding gowns are the must have for 2007 weddings. Simplicity is out and big time glamour is in. Aside from a dramatic venue and stunning decor, the bride of course must be the lime light of the event! Brides in Boston are draping themselves in lace, pearls, appliques and embellishments. Unlike the bridal predecessors, these are not fruffy but much more sophisticated glamour. Sleeves are also making a come back. Again, unlike the previous brides of the 80's, these sleeves are merely an accent, not the focal point of the dress. Soft lace sleeves or a dainty shrug accents the lace gown or posh embellishment. Sleek solid satin gowns are not the trend for the season, sorry plain janes out there. But if you add a nice lacey shrug or a few pearl accents, you are the most glamorous bride if the night! One of the many HOT trends for this years weddings is to have your reception at a unique venue. No more wedding receptions at your local function hall, or even the complete wedding facility. Nope, not the 2007 bride, she needs to out shine all previous brides by taking her party to some place that her guests have never partied at before... well didn't party at as a wedding guest. These brides are taking it to studios, night clubs, barns, even the New England Aquarium! A great site to check out for unique venue ideas is Boston Best Events One venue in particular that any bride would love is The Big Easy Bar. A bar??? Yeah, this unique venue is a bar, but transformed into a wedding reception, the ambiance is stunning!It holds 170 seated guests. Big Easy allows outside catering, and provides an event coordinator! The bar's special feature is two floors with a wrap around balcony! Mardi Gras not required. A grand entrance here is like any other! WOW!!! I first saw these at the Bayside Wedding Expo this past year. I was an exhibitor, so I got the sneak peek of all the fun stuff before the crowds came. The Mr. Bustonian was there. The Mr. is a school bus painted blue and pimped out MTV style. Full wet bar, stripper pole and awesome sound system. Ok, so the guys loved it. What about the girls???? They didn't forget us, Miss Bustonian is hot, hot pink that is! With all the same trimmings as the Mr. This is a must for your bacholerette party. Aside from the fact you and your girls will be travelling in top style... booking the Miss also includes VIP treatment in all the best clubs downtown. Think no lines, no cover charge, VIP tables and more! The Miss doesn't stop there, she includes all you can drink in the bus and they will coordinate a stripper to perform in the comfort of the Miss, if you'd like. The price isn't outrageous either. I had a girlfriend book the Miss and it was only $60 per girl... CHEAP considering if you paid covers, parking and drinks in town that would easily by over $100!!!! Check them out, you won't be disappointed!!!!

Maybe it hasn't striked you yet, but "Save The Date's" are now the NEW social norm for planning a wedding. They creep into your mail, sometimes before you even know the couples engaged. Funny, how less than 3 years ago these "reminders" were of a rare breed. Most of our parents still have no idea what they are. As we evolve so has the new generation of brides. These brides (especially Boston Brides)are very busy. Between work, the gym, your man, friends, community service, your mom, and traffic, you need to plan a wedding. And so as they say, "A bird of a feather, flock together." Of course that means a brides circle of friends and families share the same hetic lifestyle of constantly being on the go. Who can remember a date a year in advance? How can a person be expected to plan their vacation, work, etc. around a date sum 365 days away? That's madness! Ah huh, the "Save The Date" card to the rescue. So, as funny as our previous generations may think it is... these nifty little suckers are quite practical, no make that HELPFUL to our guests. They have indeed become the expected normality to a wedding. Nowadays, guest expect to receive a "Save The Date" just as soon as you book the ceremony. And now our Boston Brides have taken it one step further. These are no longer cute snapshots with a border printed at the CVS down the street. Oh no, these "Save The Dates" are researched, planned, customized and ordered to match the every detail of the wedding of their dreams. Brides are taking as much time deciding on the "Save The Date" cards as their invitations! After all, these cards are the gateway into your entire fanatasy wedding and sets the stage for your guests to oooww and aawww! Konditor Meisters! Montellios rival is making a big name in the South Shore. Delicious flavors include Strawberry Grand Marnier - gold cake with white choc Mousse and fresh strawberries (MY FAVORITE), Tiramisu - gold cake, mascarpone mousse & coffee flavor, Cognac-Truffle Torte - gold cake, white choc-truffle mousse & touch of cognac and so much more. The carrot cake is to die for! I honestly can't say anything bad about Konditor Meister. They have been awarded the Best of Boston 2005 and they were the winning wedding cake chosen on the Today Show. Just an FYI, the cake feeds many more people than they say, so if you are having a small intimate wedding with 30 people, I wouldn't buy the cake for 30 people, but rather the cake that feeds 10- 20 people. The cakes are very rich and people usually don't eat big pieces. The customer service is great, on a winter blizzard a few years ago, the owner opened the store just for a customer to pick up a cake! And they always offer to carry the cake to the car for you. As far as design... the cakes are beautiful. The pastry chefs can create a cake for any bride's style. Take for instance, the cakes above! I personally had my wedding cake custom designed by Konidor Meister!

Ok, no matter what your style is these blumebuds are WICKED AWESOME! They are fresh and unique, and even more importantly practical. They have multi purposes.
1. Table Decor... no need for floral centerpiece.
2. Name Places... need I say more.
3. Gifts... the gifts for guests are slowly fading out as couples keep a tight budget.
4. CUTE, CUTE, CUTE!

They come in boxes of 6 and inclde the vase, blumebuds box and name tags! All for under $10! So let's do the math. 100 guests x 17 packs of blumebuds (remeber 6 in a pack)equals $170 for gifts, decor and name tags! Can't get more frugal than that, but still look so hip!

Tower Hill Botantical Gardens

The Feds Studio recently photographed and filmed the wedding of Cathy and Don. I was one of the photographers on site. This was my first visit to Tower Hills Botanical Gardens in Bolyston, Ma. (That's near Worcester) I was very impressed! The Orangerie was breathtaking and the fountains were whimsical. There is a large stone patio overlooking the mountains and a lake. Beautiful at sunset! Ok, so now the critique. It was VERY BUGGY, so go prepared. This wedding I speak of was in the end of April, not prime bug season. Hundreds of tiny nats flew into my face and hair. YUCK! The bar was less than to be desired. It was a push cart of some sort, only dressed up by the left over ceremony flowers, and they didn't even serve real "Coke" or "Poland Spring". From what I hear from the wedding planners I know, there is a long time to book a wedding in the secret garden. So if your heart is set on there, plan your wedding for 2009! But worth the wait.
